Hanover Foods Corporation located in Clayton DE is currently seeking Ammonia Refrigeration Technicians to join our team.  The Clayton DE location is one of Delaware's largest refrigeration facilities!  The refrigeration units are manned 24 x 7 x 365 days per year and is one of the most important positions at the facility.  We are looking for someone that enjoys responsibility and the opportunity to grow!

Job Requirements

Handling the day to day operation of the facility's ammonia refrigeration system. Completing routine walk-throughs to ensure any underlining issues are addressed in a timely manner. Ensure break fix and preventive maintenance items are completed to limit production downtime.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 


• Completed High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in Ammonia Refrigeration

• RETA 1 & 2 Certification is preferred but not required 

• Hazmat & Incident Commander Training is preferred but not required 

• Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) Drawings

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair multiple refrigeration manufacturers equipment 

• Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Knowledge & experience with System Components:

  • Screw Compressors
  • Evaporators
  • Evaporative Condensers
  • Pumps
  • Valve Stations 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 


• Maintaining and operating Industrial Refrigeration Systems

• Inspect calibrate and maintain all refrigeration system safeguards per manufacturer specifications

• Complete and evaluate daily logs pertaining to the temperature, pressure, and general operation of the refrigeration system

• Defining/ setting up ideal operational settings and parameters for all refrigeration equipment 

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance/ repairs on machinery within the refrigeration system

• Provide in depth troubleshooting of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical and control systems to root cause and recommends corrective actions

• Maintain water treatment systems and chemical controls for the evaporative condensers per manufacturer specifications

• Participate in Process Safety Management program and follow all related procedures

• Perform system startups or shutdowns 

• Maintain housekeeping standards in all area of refrigeration equipment.

• Monitor contractors working on or near refrigeration system 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


• Able to pass a Physical & Respiratory Examination 

• Must complete Respirator Fit Testing 

• Serve on Hazmat Emergency Response Team

• Wear a respirator, SCBA, and/or Level A Suit when necessary
