SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for supervising Spring Glen’s Quality Assurance function in order to maintain safe and wholesome food products that meet all customer and regulatory requirements.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science preferred or equivalent experience in a related field

• 3 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance Supervisor function

• Ability to speak, write and understand English

• Good communication skills (both verbal and written)

• 1-3 years' supervisory and/or management experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong technical knowledge of food processing

• Experience working in a USDA environment

• Proficiency in computer usage (Microsoft Office Suite)

Job Requirements



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise the online quality assurance technicians to assure compliance to all company, customer quality, and food safety requirements.
  2. Effectively coach and drive performance improvements of QA Technicians.
  3. Address performance issues of QA personnel using HR guidelines.
  4. Audit compliance to food safety requirements.
  5. Carry out root cause analysis and drive sustained improvement at the production level.
  6. Instill a culture of operational discipline, accuracy, and compliance.
  7. Prepare and conduct training on a range of topics (job-specific or other mandatory training) for employees at different levels of the organization.
  8. Ensure that QA department employees are trained in and obey safety rules while carrying out their duties.
  9. Perform special assignment(s) – such as product specifications for purchased items, sample requests, etc., as directed by the QA Manager.
  10. Ensure compliance with all Corporate and Plant Standard Operating Procedures.
  11. Arrange for and work with USDA Inspectors on product certification and coordinate with the QA Manager to correct identified issues.
  12. Keep abreast of all specifications, limits, yield factors; and assist in implementing controls when needed.
  13. Responsible for placing questionable product on hold status.  Review product information and refer questionable items to QA management for disposition.
  14. Preventing lingering unsafe and unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards
  15. Investigate customer complaints when directed.
  16. Develop and maintain necessary reports and records as required.
  17. Keep abreast of new developments relative to QA or related fields.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
